My Very First Pro Tools

Earlier this year I decided it was finally time to learn to use Pro Tools. That decision was partly due to the arrival of a new Avid SC48 at Midway Production Services. My next big show was the vtONE worship event on March 2, 2013 and I knew if the console was in by then I’d be mixing the show on it and recording to Pro Tools anyway. The only really scary thing about it was that I’d never seriously used Pro Tools before and I had to produce an album (we were selling it before the event, as we had done before) by May. There was a not unexpected learning curve but overall it wasn’t bad at all. I might even say the experience was more pleasant than working in Cubase. As always, I nearly ran out of CPU for running native plugins but with 40-some tracks plus busses and way too many Waves plugins, I wasn’t surprised.

All of that to say: I’m in Pro Tools now. I still need a cheat sheet for keyboard shortcuts but that shouldn’t be too difficult to come by.

And the album is out now. Go buy one. Thanks!
